Thai Restaurants
One of the most sophisticated settings on the island, overlooking
the sea. Entertainment provided by Tommy Doyle on grand piano playing
jazz and Broadway standards every night except Monday.
Sea Hag - another favourite in Soi Permpong 3 (Soi Wattana) just
off Thaweewong Road (Beach Road.) Stylish with great Thai food,
immaculately presented. Kenya - its sister restaurant in the same
soi, serves regional dishes which don't often feature on most Thai
menus. Both open everyday, serves lunch from 12:00 to 4:00 pm, and
dinner from 6:00 pm until the kitchen closes - which is generally
around midnight.
Panorama Beach Club
At the quieter north end of Patong along Pra Baramee Rd serves
Thai and International cuisine with an emphasis on Thai. The casual
atmosphere of this open air, patio restaurant makes it an ideal
place to go when wanting to get away from it all.
Phaitong
Located about half way between Patong and Karon beach on the hill
overlooking the sea. Great views from the terrace of beautiful Karon
beach. Very good Thai Food.
Many of the hotels have their own signature Thai restaurants which
serve excellent food from all the regions of Thailand.
Sala Bua at the Impiana
Phuket Cabana serves good Thai cuisine in an alfresco setting.
Vegetarian
Most Thai cuisine does include meat, but there are also a number
of dishes which are vegetarian accompaniments and can be ordered
like Pag Boon Fai Deng, (fried morning glory) Pak pag ruam (mixed
fried vegetables in oyster sauce) and various egg dishes for non-vegans,
available at most restaurants.
Navrang Mahal, 58/11 Bangla Road, Soi Patong (Tel: 292280),
serves a variety of vegetarian dishes in addition to their general
Indian menu.
During the http://www.phuket.com/festival/vegetarian.htm in late
September early October, a number of shop houses open up vegetarian
stalls where you can sample all sorts of dishes created to imitate
non-vegetarian dishes using soy protein. (Festival period only) |
