Probably the best beach in Phuket, Patong's 3,000 metres of white
sand gently curves around a bay fringed with casuarina trees.
Plenty of room to laze around in your deck-chair (umbrella and
side table provided) take a stroll along the seashore, read a book,
or join a local friendly football match at sundown.
If you feel a quick energy burst, you could hire a small catamaran
(with such a large bay, you're not likely to go off-course) go parasailing
for an alternative aerial view, or hire a boat and go fishing and
snorkelling around the coast.
If that sounds too energetic, have a pedicure or a massage under
the shade of a tree. Or just relax and sip your fresh coconut...
During the day, the beach is the centre of the action in
Patong with people relaxing, throwing a Frisbee, swimming

Rent a speedboat with friends (not as expensive as it sounds)
and go snorkelling around the small coves and beaches around
the Patong Bay area, or go further up the coast to the small

year. Thai's love kids which means that most restaurants and tourist

Of course we'd like to give you the impression that the sun
shines all day all year round in Patong. However there are
some periods from June to November, when there are occasional
showers. The rain rarely lasts, but while it does, most people
enjoy the cool refreshing respite from the heat and take a
break in a favourite restaurant, go for a massage, relax in
their hotel, take a nap or read a book, accumulating much
needed energy for the next shopping trip or evening's entertainment.

Traditional Thai massage is quite unlike Western versions,
involving a combination of assisted stretching and acupressure,
rather than manipulation of muscles. Don't worry though, in busy Patong every known variation
of massage treatment is readily available at any one of a

with with easy access to the main roads leading off the island,
and also to the boat jetties. The range of options is huge. Kayaking in Phang Nga, elephant
trekking in Khao Lak, half day snorkelling to local islands,
